Working meeting of Andreja Rihter and Nikola Selaković in Belgrade

The Foundation’s Director, Andreja Rihter, visited Nikola Selaković, Serbian Minister of Culture and President of the Board of the Forum of Slavic Cultures. They discussed the future activities of the Foundation and possibilities for closer cooperation between the Member States. They stressed the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the Slavic countries and promoting contemporary creativity.

Mr Selaković stressed that Serbia will continue to make a proactive and important contribution to the institution’s work and will participate in the activities related to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum of Slavic Cultures. Part of the programme of the anniversary celebrations will take place in November in Užice, this year’s cultural capital of Serbia.

The meeting also discussed new programmes and projects of the Foundation that would enrich its traditional programmes, such as the publication of the 100 Slavic Novels, the Živa Award and the participation in the Women Writers Route, a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.

Selaković stressed that Serbia is open to further strengthening cooperation between Slavic countries in the field of filmmaking and cinema, in addition to museum cooperation, and suggested exploring the possibility of improving cooperation and the promotion of films from Slavic countries.
