Exhibition Transformations: FROM the Slavic Clothing Tradition TO Contemporary Designs
12 February – 8 March 2020
The international foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures will premierly present an exhibition that shows, in a unique and creative way, the transformation of elements of Slavic heritage in contemporary fashion design.
In the first phase, the project involved fashion designers from five Slavic countries selected by a fashion expert Jožica Brodarič, namely Nikolay Bozhilov from Bulgaria, Russian couple Galina and Nikolaj Biryukov, Nevena Ivanović from Serbia, Andrea Pojezdálová from Slovakia and Slovenian designer Jelena Proković.
The exhibition in the Historical Atrium of the Ljubljana Town Hall will focus on the authors’ collections, as well as rich and diverse traditions of Slavic heritage, which served as inspiration and was initially transformed into sketches of fashion designers, and then into their fashion designs.
