The Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) bestowed the awards for the best Slavic museums in Prague in co-operation with the National Technical Museum from Prague and under the honorary patronage of the Czech Ministry of Culture. In addition to the main award, the winner was the Emigration Museum from Poland, the award for the best Slavic heritage site was bestowed for the first time in five years. It went to the Kizhi Museum from Russia.
The International Foundation – Forum of Slavic Cultures presented the 100 Slavic Novels series at the Moscow International Book Fair for the second year in a row. After Moscow the authors representing the series continued their visit to Russia at the Leo Tolstoy’s estate in Yasnaya Polyana where they were special guests of the traditional international writers’ meeting.

The Forum of Slavic Cultures together with its partners organized the award ceremony for the Museums in Short – European awards for the best European short museum films. The awards have been bestowed for the fifth time. The winner in the category “exhibits” was the film of the Van Gogh Museum from the Netherlands, the winner in the “promotional” category was the film of the Diachronic Museum from Larissa in Greece, and the winner in the category “storytelling” was the MUCEM from France. The winner of the public vote was the Greek Archaeological Museum of Kythera.

49 museums from 20 European countries participated at the 5th edition of the Museums in Short Award – European contest for short videos produced by/for/with museums. The awarding ceremony will take place in Piran/Slovenia on the 31st of August 2018, hosting by the International foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures and Piran Municipality.

At the invitation of the European Institute of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe the representatives of the Forum of Slavic Cultures attended a special professional training programme.
The International Summer School of Museology that takes place under the auspices of the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities, and in cooperation with the Municipality of Piran, saw its 12th edition this year. This year, the Forum of Slavic Cultures attended Intermuseum, the international museum festival in Moscow, for the first time as a strategic partner. The Živa booth (Živa is the award for the best Slavic museum) presented fifteen Slavic museums, of which three were Slovene.
