FSK and the Women Writers Route at ICARUS Croatia Days

ICARUS Croatia Days saw its eighth edition this year and the FSK was there, like in previous years. This time, we presented our role in the inception of the Women Writers Route, which was certified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe last year.

About 140 scholars and experts in cultural heritage and its digitisation gathered in Šibenik at the conference entitled Enhancing Heritage Experience – Exploring Cultural Routes. This year, the conference coincided with the launch of activities under the E-Routes project, which is supported by Creative Europe and dedicated to delivering innovative approaches to presenting travelogues and other travel-related materials in the context of cultural heritage, and travel experience as a way of communication that connects people and places through shared cultural heritage that transcends time, space, and borders.

During the three-day conference the FSK director Dr. Andreja Rihter and project manager Mateja Jančar gave a presentation entitled the “Women Writers Route – tourist and creative potential of neglected history”. They described the Women Writers Route and the efforts invested in obtaining the certification of the Council of Europe as well as the potential and opportunities that the project offers to cultural and academic institutions, tourist organisations, small companies and individuals. They also presented the most notable activities that recently took place in the framework of the Women Writers Route.
