Nights in Old Ljubljana Town culminated with the concert performed by the Russian State Orchestra of St. Petersburg, hosted by the FSC

Thanks to the several-years long cooperation between the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the Administration of Saint Petersburg headed by Governor Poltavchenko the music festival Nights in Ljubljana Old Town, this year dedicated to Slavic cultures, culminated with a magnificent concert. Invited by the Forum of Slavic Cultures the acclaimed State Russian Concert Orchestra of Saint Petersburg under the baton of Vladimir Popov, the founder of the orchestra established in 1991, gave a splendid performance.

This unique orchestra with its programme keeps up the finest that the Russian folk tradition has to offer, employing the folk instruments such as domras, balalaikas, fiddles, different percussion and other instruments characteristic for the late 19th century St. Petersburg. Its 34 virtuosos offered visitors from Ljubljana and tourists the unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of music in this high-quality performance.

In addition to the Slovenian capital the orchestra members visited the Russian Chapel, the Nordic Centre Planica, Lakes Bohinj and Bled.
