FSK to move to Villa Zlatica in 2021

The FSK is to receive new premises after the comprehensive renovation of Hribar’s villa (Villa Zlatica). Along with its regular programme it will give access also to the museum presentation of the former mayor of Ljubljana and his life.

“In the many years of our fruitful cooperation the City of Ljubljana (MOL) and FSK have organised many events for professionals and the wider public. In 2019, MOL decided to bring the programmes of the FSK and the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana (MGML) together at a single location, the renovated Villa Zlatica ,” said Dr. Andreja Rihter, Director of the FSK, where the preparations for the move to the new location are already under way. Ms Rihter stressed how excited she was about the move, which was far from a coincidence. The FSK connects the Slavic world, just like Ljubljana’s mayor Ivan Hribar did through his work and connections. During his term of office (1896 – 1910) Ljubljana underwent post-earthquake reconstruction, but Hribar’s Slavic connections left a mark also on the cultural life in Ljubljana.

As the manager of Villa Zlatica, MGML will arrange a museum collection dedicated to the living culture of Ljubljana’s bourgeoisie and a retrospective exhibition on Ljubljana’s former mayor Ivan Hribar. FSK’s programme will take place also in Hribar’s library, which still boasts the original furniture and floor. In addition to its programme, the FSK will provide access also to the museum presentations.

MOL’s renovation of the villa and the garden will be completed by the end of 2020 in accordance with the guidelines of the conservation plan prepared by the Conservation-Restoration Atelier Šentjošt.
